Regional Head of Operations – West & South Africa

About the role

Pacific International Lines is seeking a dynamic Regional Head of Operations to lead vessel and portside activities across West and South Africa. Based in Accra, you will ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective marine operations while driving performance against key operational KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead vessel operations for coastal and mainline routes, coordinating with local agencies, central planning and the global marine desk.
• Oversee safe handling of special cargo (project cargo, OOG) and ensure stowage plans meet IMDG and safety standards.
• Act as senior escalation point for operational disruptions and vessel emergencies, liaising with authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with terminal operators, port authorities, pilotage and husbandry providers.
• Optimize berthing plans, port productivity and vessel turnaround times to improve Terminal Velocity.
• Develop and execute regional contingency plans, managing port omissions, delays, deviations and other exceptions.
• Collaborate with Head Office Liner Operations on schedule integrity and network adjustments.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in marine or shipping operations.
• Track record of managing high‑performing teams across multiple locations.
• Strong knowledge of IMDG regulations and special cargo handling.
• Excellent stakeholder management and crisis‑resolution skills.
