Remote ML Engineer

About the role

Turing is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to work on benchmark‑driven evaluation projects for real‑world AI systems. This fully remote contractor role focuses on building, running, and improving production‑grade ML pipelines that assess and enhance advanced models.

Key responsibilities

• Work with real‑world ML codebases to support MLE Bench‑style evaluation tasks.
• Build, run, and modify model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines.
• Prepare datasets, features, and metrics for benchmarking and validation.
• Debug, refactor, and optimise production‑like ML systems for correctness and performance.
• Evaluate model behaviour, failure modes, and edge cases relevant to benchmark tasks.
• Write clean, reproducible, and well‑documented Python code for ML workflows.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with researchers and engineers on challenging evaluation tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Software Engineer with an ML focus.
• Strong proficiency in Python for data and ML workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines.
• Solid understanding of supervised/unsupervised learning, evaluation metrics, and optimisation.
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
