Senior Road Safety Campaigns & Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role

NTU International is looking for a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural change campaigns across the ECOWAS region. The role focuses on designing and implementing inclusive road safety initiatives that protect vulnerable users such as women, children, persons with disabilities, pedestrians and cyclists.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design and implementation of road safety awareness campaigns and behavioural change initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance on road safety communication strategies, public outreach programmes, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Integrate vulnerable road user considerations into transport policies and road safety programmes.
• Advise on gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches targeting women, youth, persons with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable groups.
• Develop communication materials, awareness tools and public information campaigns.
• Contribute to road safety studies, communication strategies, analytical reports and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate with transport authorities, civil society organisations, educational institutions, media actors and development partners.
• Support road safety education initiatives, community engagement programmes and advocacy campaigns.
• Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities related to road safety communication and vulnerable road users.
• Assist in monitoring, reporting and evaluating awareness campaigns and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in road safety campaigns, public awareness programmes, communication initiatives or social inclusion projects.
• Proven experience working on transport, road safety or social development projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
