Shift Maintenance Technician

About the role

GBfoods, which operates in 24 countries across Europe and Africa with a regional office in Accra, Ghana, is hiring a Shift Maintenance Technician. The role reports to the Maintenance Engineer and covers troubleshooting, installation, preventive maintenance and documentation of plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, install and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and simple electrical/automation problems on plant facilities, production equipment, UPS, chillers, generators, totalizing synchronization, control panels and power panels, and universal machines.
• Maintain plant equipment diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes, and record maintenance activities according to standard.
• Install, configure and calibrate measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog and digital) such as PLCs and programmable automation controllers (Schneider, Omron, Siemens), transmitters and controllers.
• Take part in preventive maintenance, plan resources day to day, and carry out scheduled preventive maintenance with activities recorded and documented.
• Recognize and correct potential equipment failures or unsafe conditions and report them to the Maintenance Manager through the supervisor.

Required profile

• National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, B.Tech or B.Eng in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
• Previous experience in the FMCG industry is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, meet deadlines and solve problems; good organization and time management.

Required skills

• Functional knowledge of mechanical components such as valves, pipe fittings, bearings, motors and gearboxes.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic blueprints or schematics.
• Strong mechanical repair, troubleshooting and metalworking skills, with demonstrated proficiency in machine repair, machine tool operations and pipefitting.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to learn e-maintenance software.
