Superintendent Mine Geology (Underground)

About the role

Newmont's Ahafo South mine, Ghana's largest gold mine, is looking for a Superintendent Mine Geology to lead underground geological activities. The role supports resource optimization through grade control, mine-to-mill reconciliation, geo-metallurgy and geological modelling, and provides updated geological models for site planning. It is based at the Ahafo South mine site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site underground geological activities and provide reliable, up-to-date geological models for site planning.
• Adapt global standard methodologies to local deposit needs for grade control, including drill, sample and assay techniques, data quality assurance, quality control, geologic interpretation and reporting.
• Design, develop and technically manage grade control and infill drill programs; plan scope of work, budgets and manage geological consultants and contracts.
• Deliver mine-to-mill reconciliation reporting from a geological perspective and conduct periodic reconciliation to check the accuracy of monthly underground reconciliation.
• Update geological 3D digital modelling regularly and ensure geo-metallurgical data is available to optimize and de-risk resource use.
• Manage the Mine Geology team, coordinate training and development, and lead the FRM process to identify, mitigate and monitor risks.
• Serve as Qualified Person for all underground mineral resource and reserve estimation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field, including professional registration.
• At least 10-15 years of experience in mining.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, and experience in project and/or contract management.
• Ability to handle the annual Mine Geology staffing budget and to act as Qualified Person for underground resources and reserves.
