Transport Workshop Supervisor

About the role

The Transport Workshop Supervisor reports directly to the Transport Manager and leads the daily workshop and fleet maintenance operations. The role ensures that mechanics, technicians and support staff work efficiently, vehicle downtime is minimised, and all repairs meet safety and manufacturer standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan workshop workflow, schedule and assign repair orders based on skill levels and priorities.
• Capture all outstanding services, inspections and manufacturer recalls in the planning process.
• Provide first‑line supervision, technical guidance and troubleshooting for mechanics, electricians and technicians.
• Inspect and quality‑check completed jobs before vehicles return to service.
• Oversee maintenance of company vehicles, forklifts, pallet trucks and specialised equipment in line with statutory regulations.
• Enforce WHS/HSE rules, maintain a clean workspace and ensure incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Manage spare‑part inventory, tools and specialist equipment, authorising vendor purchases as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of job cards, work orders and service bulletins, and coordinate with admin, finance and store teams.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven people‑management experience, including staff training, evaluation and handling grievances.
• Ability to work hands‑on in the workshop when required.
