About the role
The Warehouse Assistant supports the safe and accurate receipt, storage, picking, loading and dispatch of food and beverage products. This role is essential for maintaining inventory accuracy, product safety and warehouse hygiene.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and physically count incoming food and beverage products, verifying quantities against invoices and delivery notes.
- Report any shortages, excesses, damages or incorrect items immediately.
- Arrange inventory by category, brand, pack size, batch and expiry date, applying FEFO and FIFO principles.
- Identify and report short‑dated or near‑expiry products.
- Pick customer orders accurately, checking product details before dispatch.
- Assist in loading delivery vehicles and ensure loaded quantities match documentation.
- Prevent unauthorised stock movement and handle returned products according to procedures.
- Separate saleable, damaged, returned, expired and quarantined items.
- Participate in daily cycle counts, monthly stock counts and other inventory checks, reporting discrepancies.
- Maintain proper stacking standards, clear aisles and emergency exits.
- Uphold high standards of warehouse cleanliness and hygiene.
- Protect products from moisture, heat, pests and contamination, reporting any hazards.
- Assist with unloading containers and handling cartons, bottles and cans carefully.
- Report suspected theft, fraud or unauthorised movement promptly.
- Follow occupational health and safety procedures and protect warehouse equipment.
- Support authorised stock movements outside Kumasi when required.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or Management.
Required profile
- Ability to count and handle products accurately.
- Attention to detail for reporting shortages, damages and expiry issues.
- Physical capability to lift and move cartons, bottles and cans.
- Willingness to follow safety and hygiene procedures.
- Reliability in maintaining inventory accuracy and preventing unauthorised stock movement.
