Business Development Director – Fiat/Crypto/Banking Partnerships

About the role

The Business Development Director will lead regional growth of fiat on‑ramp and off‑ramp services across Africa, building and managing banking and payment partnerships for a global fintech company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the regional business development strategy for fiat rails, identifying and engaging banks, PSPs and other payment partners.
• Lead commercial negotiations, onboard partners, and manage ongoing relationships to expand payment coverage and improve on‑ramp/off‑ramp services.
• Coach and manage a regional business development team, setting targets and ensuring accountability for results.
• Collaborate with operations, product, engineering and compliance teams to support partner integrations and maintain high‑quality payment services.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in business development, sales or strategic partnerships within financial services, fintech, payments or digital assets.
• Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating and onboarding banking and payment partnerships across African markets.
• Experience leading and managing a business development or sales team, with a data‑driven approach to performance.
• Strong understanding of fiat payment rails, local payment methods, cross‑border payments and crypto/digital assets.

Required skills

• Extensive experience working with payment service providers (PSPs) and commercial negotiations.
• Strong commercial judgment, negotiation skills and ability to interpret sales and operational metrics.
• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills for international stakeholders.
