Research Associate – Environment & Social Science

About the role

The Research Associate will support the Ghana Risk Modelling Alliance (GRMA) project by collecting and analysing field and desk‑based data, and helping develop learning curricula for stakeholder training programmes. This position contributes to both the institute’s broader research agenda and the specific objectives of the GRMA team.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design, implement and analyse questionnaires on disease modelling uptake and related socio‑cultural, economic and political factors.
• Conduct semi‑structured and ethnographic interviews with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Transcribe and analyse qualitative data using established methods.
• Perform systematic reviews and adaptation policy analysis, including topic modelling.
• Support logistics and coordination of stakeholder workshops, ensuring balanced representation.
• Communicate scientific findings through posters, presentations, reports, visualisations, publications and popular articles.
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary research proposals and grant applications.

Required profile

• Minimum Master’s degree in social science, development, forestry or agricultural science.
• At least 3 years of research experience.
• Experience conducting stakeholder interviews on policy, agriculture or climate adaptation.
• Proven ability to design questionnaires for policy‑oriented research.
• Knowledge of social‑science theories and participatory methodologies.
• Strong written and oral communication demonstrated through reports, publications or presentations.
