Technical Sales Representative

About the role

The Technical Sales Representative will act as the bridge between our high‑performance coating products and customers in the construction, mining, oil & gas, and marine sectors across Ghana. Reporting to the Managing Director/General Manager, you will provide technical guidance on surface preparation, corrosion protection, and product selection while driving sales growth.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with contractors, architects, developers, and bulk buyers to generate repeat business and high‑volume orders.
• Provide technical advice on paint products, coating systems, surface preparation methods, and corrosion protection solutions.
• Assess customer needs, surface conditions, and project specifications to recommend suitable products.
• Guide customers on best‑practice surface preparation, including cleaning, abrasive blasting, and priming.
• Collaborate with the sales team to identify upselling opportunities and promote appropriate coating solutions.
• Monitor industry trends and market developments to uncover new business opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of consultations, site visits, recommendations, and sales activities.
• Assist in resolving customer complaints and product performance issues with technical support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Building Technology, Mining, Oil & Gas, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of technical sales experience in manufacturing, construction, mining, oil & gas, or marine industries.
• Strong understanding of surface preparation methods, coating systems, and environmental factors affecting performance.
• Ability to combine technical knowledge with commercial awareness to identify customer needs and drive sales.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• NACE Level I coating inspection qualification (preferred).
