Banquet Manager

About the role

JW Marriott is hiring a Banquet Manager in Accra, Ghana. The role directs and motivates the banquet team while personally assisting in delivering high-quality service according to requirements and standards, and monitors financial and administrative responsibilities including asset protection.

Key responsibilities

• Manage banquet operations: procure supplies such as china, glass, silver, buffet presentations and props, maintain sanitation levels, manage inventory and equipment, and use beverage records to control liquor costs.
• Schedule banquet service staff to meet forecast and service standards while maximising profits, and build lasting relationships with groups to grow business.
• Set goals, delegate tasks and hold monthly department meetings; act as liaison to the kitchen and lead shifts while serving events.
• Keep up with food and wine pairings and current event trends, and handle guest feedback, complaints and comment cards.
• Ensure staff follow emergency and safety procedures, observe service behaviour, and implement corrective actions based on quarterly survey results.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience in event management, food and beverage or a related field.
