Chef / Cook

About the role

A full-time Chef/Cook position is available in Accra, within the hospitality and food services sector. The role covers preparing meals according to recipes and menus, keeping the kitchen running smoothly and meeting food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved recipes, menus and customer preferences, and plan daily food preparation for timely service.
• Ensure meals meet standards for taste, quality, freshness and presentation, and develop new recipes and menu improvements.
• Monitor food inventory and ingredient quality, advise management on restocking, and ensure proper storage, labelling and handling of food.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, equipment and work surfaces, and comply with food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Monitor portion sizes to minimise food waste and coordinate with kitchen assistants, service staff and management.
• Use kitchen equipment safely, report faults or maintenance needs, and follow customer dietary requirements and special meal requests.

Required profile

• Certificate, diploma or other relevant training in Culinary Arts, Food Production or a related field is an advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Chef or Cook in a restaurant, hotel, catering business or similar.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen safety.
• Ability to prepare a variety of dishes suited to the establishment's menu.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and ability to work under pressure with multiple orders.
• Good communication, teamwork and personal hygiene.
