Bartender (Local Hire)

About the role

A hotel in Accra, Ghana is looking for a local hire bartender to serve food and beverages to guests in the assigned outlet. The service must be courteous, professional, efficient and flexible, consistent with hotel and Kempinski standards, in order to encourage sales and maximise guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Serve guests and provide a courteous, professional and efficient service at all times.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, monitor supplies and equipment and keep the workplace clean and organised.
• Upsell items and offer alternatives, and explain the food and beverage menu.
• Control stock, reduce spoilage and wastage, and assist with scheduled inventories.
• Handle guest enquiries, report complaints and feedback to supervisors and follow up on them.
• Operate the POS system and attend the daily Food & Beverage meeting and staff trainings.
• Prepare classic cocktails and long drinks, know current trends and develop new recipes on request.
• Run a bar from A to Z, including mise en place, production, cashiering and shift-end duties.
• Act as a role model, lead service and hold team meetings in the absence of the Assistant Bar Manager.

Required profile

• At least 3 years in an F&B service role.
• Strong knowledge of beverages (cocktails, liquors, wine) and ability to double as a barista.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
