In-Room Dining Order Taker (Local Hire)

About the role

A hotel in Accra, Ghana, is hiring a local hire in-room dining order taker within its Food & Beverage department. The role covers serving food and beverages to guests in the assigned outlet with courteous, professional and efficient service, consistent with hotel and Kempinski standards, while encouraging sales and maximising guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Take orders by telephone and post them correctly in the POS system so they reach the service and kitchen departments.
• Work closely with the waiter/waitress and minibar attendant, and display excellent conversation skills and selling techniques.
• Know all hotel services and products, and all food and beverage items of the assigned department, and upsell and offer alternatives.
• Monitor operating supplies and equipment, reduce spoilage and wastage, and keep the workplace clean and organised.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, assist with scheduled product and equipment inventories, and attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Handle guest enquiries courteously, report guest complaints and feedback to supervisors and follow up on them.
• Operate the POS system to the level of training received, and adhere to hotel policies on fire, hygiene, health and safety.
• Act as a role model for the team, maintain good relations with colleagues and undertake reasonable secondary duties assigned by the Department Head.

Required profile

• HND or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• 3 years of work experience in an F&B service role.
• Excellent oral and written skills, and the ability to work as part of a team and handle pressure.
• Excellent telecommunication skills, able to represent the hotel by phone.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
