Bar Back

About the role

A bar back is needed to support the bartenders and the rest of the staff. The role covers bar opening and closing procedures and behind-the-bar tasks such as restocking the bar, while keeping the bar area tidy during and after working hours so that guests receive excellent service.

Key responsibilities

• Tidy tables, counters and other bar areas
• Restock the bar with straws, napkins and similar items
• Prepare mixers, juices and cocktail garnishes
• Remove trash, wipe down drink spills and refill bins
• Assist bartenders during rush hours
• Track opening and closing stock inventory

Required profile

• Minimum secondary school certificate or diploma
• Interest in the hospitality industry; previous entry-level bar or restaurant experience is not mandatory but is a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to stand during the shift
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of bar menu items and recipes, including different types of beer and mixed drinks
• Customer service, communication and numeracy skills
• Ability to multi-task, adapt to diversity, teamwork, cleanliness, stress tolerance, reliability, organization and a sense of urgency
