Business Development Director – Fiat/Crypto/Banking Partnerships

About the role

Our client, a global fintech operating in multiple markets, is expanding its footprint in Africa. They are looking for a Business Development Director to grow the regional fiat business, strengthen banking and payment partnerships, and broaden access to fiat on‑ramp and off‑ramp services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the regional business development strategy for fiat rails across Africa.
• Identify, engage, and negotiate with banks, PSPs and other payment partners to expand coverage and improve fiat on‑ramp/off‑ramp services.
• Lead, coach and manage a regional business development team, setting targets and ensuring accountability.
• Own partner relationships, commercial terms, performance monitoring and ongoing collaboration.
• Collaborate with operations, product, engineering and compliance teams to support partner integrations and reliable payment services.
• Oversee regional fiat operations, regulatory and licensing matters, and monitor market developments to inform strategy.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in business development, sales or strategic partnerships within financial services, fintech, payments or digital assets.
• Proven track record sourcing, negotiating and onboarding banking and payment partnerships across African markets.
• Experience leading and managing a business development or sales team, setting targets and driving performance.
• Hands‑on approach with ability to prospect, negotiate, close deals and resolve operational challenges.
• Strong understanding of fiat payment rails, local payment methods, cross‑border payments and fiat on‑ramp/off‑ramp services.
• Data‑driven mindset, able to interpret sales, marketing and operational metrics and act on insights.
• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills for international stakeholders.
