German-English Translator and Interpreter (Freelance Remote)

About the role

Beyond Borders Solutions, a Ghana-based language services provider, offers a freelance remote position for a German-English translator and interpreter. The role covers written translation between German and English, real-time interpretation for virtual meetings, calls and conferences, and possibly localization of marketing, technical and training materials.

Key responsibilities

• Translate written documents from German to English and English to German, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistent terminology and style.
• Provide real-time interpretation for virtual meetings, calls and conferences.
• Support localization of marketing, technical and training materials for different audiences.
• Review and revise translated content.
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to clarify requirements.
• Maintain glossaries and language resources.
• Meet deadlines, handle multiple projects and follow quality assurance processes.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in German and English, with excellent reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in both.
• Demonstrated experience in translation and interpretation, preferably in business, technical, academic or legal contexts.
• Attention to accuracy, cultural appropriateness and consistent terminology.
• Clear, professional communication skills and ability to work with international clients and colleagues.
• Relevant academic background in languages, translation, linguistics or a related field is preferred; professional certification is an advantage.
