Planning, Controlling and Reconciliation Manager - Insurance

About the role

A full-time Planning, Controlling and Reconciliation Manager position in Accra, focused on insurance experience. The role covers business planning and budgeting, financial controls, reporting and reconciliation with bancassurance partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing the business planning and budgetary process, including budgets, capital expenditure, budget monitoring and reforecasts.
• Ensure effective financial systems, controls and processes are in place and used throughout the company.
• Prepare documentation and reports for audits and regulatory reviews, and help coordinate updates to financial reporting policies and procedures.
• Work with Reporting and Tax to deliver high-quality, timely financial reports, and monitor and interpret cash flows.
• Review cost-reduction opportunities and identify process improvements in financial planning, controlling and reconciliation.
• Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Reconcile with bancassurance partners monthly so premiums are received on time, investigate discrepancies between internal records and external statements, consult banks on premium completeness and work with the Payables unit on bank reconciliations.
• Provide financial accounting and reporting for profitability assessment across segments (MM, CC, Branch, Line of Business, Channel and selected agents).
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with group, statutory, regulatory and IFRS 17 requirements, and maintain accurate financial records.

Required profile

• Minimum of 8 years' experience in accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field.
• Qualified accountant or partly qualified with ICAGH, ACCA or equivalent.

Required skills

• Insurance accounting and financial analysis.
• Budgeting and forecasting, and reconciliation techniques.
• IFRS and regulatory reporting, including IFRS 17; NIC provisions and prudential reporting.
• Income Tax Act 896.
• Data processing techniques for accounting systems.
