Project Officer – BRIGHT Shea

About the role

The Project Officer will support the implementation of the BRIGHT Shea Project, working directly with women shea producers, cooperatives, youth‑led enterprises and community institutions. The role focuses on strengthening sustainable livelihoods, improving production and market systems, and ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Organize and lead implementation of project activities according to the detailed implementation plan and donor requirements.
• Coordinate field‑level support for women producers, cooperatives and youth entrepreneurs to adopt improved production, post‑harvest handling, aggregation, processing and business management practices.
• Facilitate capacity‑strengthening through trainings, demonstrations, exchange visits, community meetings and technical back‑stopping for producer groups and implementing partners.
• Support market‑systems development by linking producers to buyers, strengthening cooperative governance, promoting access to financial services and encouraging value‑addition initiatives.
• Collect project data, track performance indicators, document lessons learned and success stories, and prepare technical reports for adaptive management and accountability.
• Ensure complete project documentation and assist in preparing annual reports, case studies and promising practices.

Required profile

• Proficient in English.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Strong analysis and problem‑solving abilities with sound judgment.
• Good relationship‑management skills.
