Infectious Disease Surveillance Advisor – Ghana

About the role

PATH is seeking an Infectious Disease Surveillance Advisor to support the STRIDES project in Ghana. The advisor will provide technical expertise to strengthen surveillance, detection and analytical capacity for human and animal infectious diseases across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day technical and operational aspects of the project in Ghana.
• Develop, coordinate and implement epidemiological and laboratory surveillance activities for zoonotic, epidemic‑ and pandemic‑prone diseases.
• Support outbreak investigations at regional and national levels.
• Provide technical guidance to regional staff to keep activities on track with work plans.
• Review and revise project and donor reports, draft publications and external communications.
• Coordinate with ministries of health, district health staff and development partners.
• Contribute to national guidelines and normative policies on disease surveillance.
• Produce and disseminate high‑quality data, situation reports, bulletins and health risk assessments.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, veterinary medicine or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation or laboratory surveillance.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and to apply international guidelines such as IHR and JEE.
