Medical Counter Assistant

About the role

The Medical Counter Assistant will work full‑time on‑site at Katemed Pharmacy, supporting daily counter operations and helping customers find appropriate over‑the‑counter products while adhering to pharmacy guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers, listen to their needs, and guide them to suitable OTC products.
• Assist licensed staff with prescription processing and basic medicine inquiries.
• Promote safe medicine use and provide accurate product information.
• Maintain shelf stock, check expiry dates, label and package products correctly.
• Keep the counter area clean, organized, and presentable.
• Handle simple medical records, process payments, and operate point‑of‑sale systems.
• Support inventory counts and collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure efficient service.

Required profile

• Strong medical assisting skills and experience supporting pharmacy staff.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology relevant to common medicines.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures such as prescription handling and record organization.
• Demonstrated patient‑care abilities, respectful communication, and confidentiality.
• Attention to detail for labeling, counting, and expiry‑date checks.
• Basic numeracy and computer literacy for cash handling and digital records.
• Willingness to learn pharmacy procedures and follow safety protocols.
• Relevant certificate or training in pharmacy assistance or healthcare is an advantage; prior pharmacy experience is a plus.
